ByKuben (City Cube), Oslo's center for urban ecology, is an initiative by the city of Oslo with the mandate to act as a source of inspiration and knowledge, create connections and foster collaboration between urban actors, including the municipality, local businesses and citizens, with the aim of driving city development towards a more sustainable future.
Their role is to engage and inspire the city’s population to feel ownership of and see opportunities in the green shift towards a zero emission society. ByKuben It is a neutral meeting ground where ideas can unfold.With their work they bring change to the city’s operations, identify good ideas and actors, contribute to innovation, ideas and business opportunities, consult and facilitate dialogs with the city.
Bykuben was officially established in late 2018 and consists of a municipal project group and a meeting room in the center of Oslo. Their premises are open to actors with interest in climate-friendly urban development and sustainable urban life, and often hosting activities and events that showcase urban ecology in practice.
